Hello Futral Parents and Students,

My name is Tiffany Fair and I'm the counselor at Futral Road Elementary. I am so excited to start my 6th year of counseling and help our precious students reach their potential. My hobbies are reading, scrapbooking, and exercising! I am here to serve you and your students, so please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your child(ren) socially, emotionally, or academically.

Looking forward to getting to know you better!

At Futral Road Elementary School, our school counseling program is aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) model which includes supporting students in the academic, social/ emotional, and career domains. The mission of our school counseling
program is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, social/emotional, and career development of all students in a nurturing and safe environment. We provide classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling as requested, parent consultation, and school-wide activities. Our vision is that each student will have a successful academic journey and develop into a productive member of society. Our school counseling program supports all students and fosters relationships between students, staff, and families in order to equip all students to achieve their highest potential.

What is P.A.W.S. Behavior?

Ask your children and they can tell you! Futral Road expects our students to be Prepared, Act Responsibly, Work Together, and Show Respect.

Why does Futral Road believe it is important to focus on teaching positive social behaviors? Frequently, the question is asked, "Why should we have to teach kids to be good? They already know what they are supposed to do. Why can we not just expect good behavior?" In the past, school-wide discipline has focused mainly on reacting to specific student misbehavior by punishing students. Research has shown that punishment, especially when it is used inconsistently and in the absence of other positive strategies, is ineffective. Teaching behavioral expectations and recognizing students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur and punishing students. The purpose of school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Support) is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm. This year's positive behavior support team includes both staff and Futral Road parents. We look forward to working together to create the best possible learning environment for your student.
